The National Physical Education and School Sport Development Programme (CPD) for Dance is designed to assist teachers deliver a comprehensive and progressive dance programme. The overall aim is to provide an array of activities enabling teachers to deliver high quality dance lessons whilst providing opportunities for pupils to develop physical literacy and gain a cognitive understanding of Dance.
This course is comprised of a variety of modules.
The first module is designed to assist both schools and individual teachers understand where they are in relation to the delivery of Dance and its role within their current Physical Education National Curriculum.
The second module is comprised of a variety of analysis tasks designed to identify what pupils are currently achieving in dance activities and areas for improvement.
The third module focuses on gaining an understanding of how Dance fits into the Physical Education National Curriculum and looks at an array of resources and prescriptive tasks designed to meet the needs of pupils.
The final module will provide opportunities for teachers to develop systems and implement strategies for recognising and building on improvement both as individuals and on a whole school basis.
All participants will receive a Dance In Education Services Handbook featuring an array of prescriptive dance lessons for all age ranges (Foundation to KS2) and accompanying Audio CD.
