What an inspirational person Andrea is! I felt privileged to be on the course on Friday and to learn about dance from such a fabulous practitioner. Delivering the core skills in any subject of the curriculum for me has just become crystal clear. I have already shared the experience with my daughter who is both a dancer and music teacher in one of our local high schools and is busy as I speak or rather write, working out here own rhymes for her music core skills etc. Thanks again Julie for finding and making available such high quality training.
Ruth Ashworth, PLT Cardinal Langley School Sport Partnership

"Thanks for all your help."
Dame Kelly Holmes

When I joined the Youth Sport Trust I met with Andrea to discuss how she could contribute to the national PESSCL strategy in terms of working with school sport partnership networks. Her company became a member of the YST Business Honours Club and through this work was engaged to provide professional development for lead practitioners in dance to improve the quality of teaching and learning in dance from key stage 1 through to key stage 4. Her innovative programme ‘Dance – The rules of the Game’ Dance’ - provided a means to make Dance accessible to the masses and to help the Lead Practitioners assist teachers to deliver high quality dance lessons and encourage even the most reluctant teacher to engage and feel confident when delivering a dance lesson. The feedback from teachers was excellent across the board.
Anna Young, International Development Officer, Youth Sport Trust

Teachers in Kirklees have benefited greatly from in-service training led by Andrea. as a result they have developed confidence in delivery of the national curriculum and by using the Dance In Steps resource they also have a bank of “fool proof” ideas.

Really enjoyed the course, but particular strengths were the tutors knowledge of relating Dance to the PE NC. The website produced is fantastic, just what I needed!
Vanessa Bancroft, SSCO South Carven School Sport Partnership

Andrea has made a significant contribution to our Dance Inset programme in Hull and has made a real impact on improving standards of teaching and learning within our schools. Her extremely good subject knowledge is evident in both her teaching and the wonderful dance resources she has produced. Her materials have helped our teachers to interpret the national curriculum through dance and to make significant gains in their knowledge and understanding of technical and compositional aspects of dance.
Brenda Grace, Improvement Teacher (PE & Sport)

"It has been wonderful to see how children with special education needs have flourished with the dance club and performances showing good skill and rhythm. In addition the chance for children of all ages especially the younger ones to participate in this activity was fantastic. A wonderful event, thank you."

Lorna Brown, West Cliff Primary School

"It has been an exceptional experience for our children to be involved in this dance project, especially the reluctant boys. From beginning to end it has been very well organised. The instructions our children received were excellent. The level of energy and commitment from the Dance in Education Services tutor (Mrs Cook) was impressive, she held the attention and interest of the children at all times. The pace of the sessions matched the children's concentration span perfectly. In fact it exhausted me just to watch! Thank you for the wonderful and worthwhile experience.

It has not only been a learning experience for the children, but for me also. I would love this opportunity to come to our area again and would like more information about the other services Dance in Education Services offer for the future. 'Enjoyment' and 'Energy' seem to be the words which keep coming into my head."

Pam Crabtree, Head Teacher, St Hilda's Primary School, North Yorkshire.

Excellent, I have attended Dance courses before, but they have left me cold! Today has left me inspired!
C. Johnson Morley High School

"This experience has given a wide range of children a very different and challenging experience. Children who traditionally are not particularly sporty have shown a selection of skills including concentration, rhythm and strength. All children who began the course have completed it, a sign of their level of commitment to the project. The group as a whole have encouraged each other and been supportive of those who may have struggled over routines. An excellent experience for all year group's girls/boys and a rich opportunity to grab some ideas for teachers who don't find teaching dance particularly easy."

Susan Doe, Teacher, Seton primary School.

"This has been a very successful project. The children have really enjoyed it and responded very positively. The coach has been outstanding. Her energy and enthusiasm have been infectious. We have been delighted at the commitment from the children. The boys in particular have really responded. We have loved every minute of it. The festival has given us something to work towards and the opportunity to see the other schools has really made the whole thing complete. One of the best things we have been involved in. Thank you."

Mr Jackson, Head Teacher, Stakesby Community Primary School.

"A thoroughly enjoyable day. Everyone participated in the workshops, even the most reluctant! Over the 7 weeks the children have matured and taken part in activities that at one time they would not have considered. Miss Ashworth had a professional attitude throughout which engaged the children and instilled confidence. The whole project has been one of the most successful and different elements of the PLT programme. An annual event with this kind of support would be a great experience for other children. Thanks for all your hard work."

T Boanas, Oakridge Primary School.

"As Education Manager at Phoenix Dance Theatre I had the pleasure of working on more than one occasion with Dance in Education Services. They are a professional and invaluable source of information for any dance teacher, their resources are brilliantly constructed and their approach to Inset helps teachers to feel confident and self assured in their own delivery of the national curriculum."

Tracy Witney, Head of Education and Community Programmes,
Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

I just wanted to send a note of thanks to you and Rebecca for the great day of workshops delivered at Feltham Community College. The students from my college and visiting schools/teachers all had positive feedback on the sessions delivered and it was great for me to have another dance person in the college!"

Laura Kendal, AST Dance, Feltham Community College

"Thank you for your support in making the first Ryedale OSHL dance club such a great success. The pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed the school based sessions and the project encouraged a large number of children to be physically active and improve the confidence and social skills of those involved. The dance festival was also excellent and over 270 parents and relatives attended the event at Norton College. As you are already aware the after school club project has been preceded by in service training provided by Dance in Education Services along with the dance portal and I am sure that this has led to the increase in quality and quantity of dance delivery in the partnership."

Ben Grady, Youth Sport Trust

Thank you yet again for another fantastic and inspiring Training Day! All Delegates thoroughly enjoyed the day and found it very informative. They said they can't wait to put their new found skills into action."
Angela Deake, SLP, Barlby High School
